Private Instruction

Park City Gun Club is proud to offer private instruction for anyone who wants a more personal and/or specialized instruction. Our trained and certified instructors can tailor a lesson plan to fit your needs. If you are an experienced shooter, and think some of our classes may be too basic, this is a great option. Our instructors have enough combined knowledge and teaching expertise to refine just about anyone’s shooting. This is also a great option for the newcomer who wants an efficient way to get started. NRA Basic 2 Pistol

This course is a blended training course, which means a portion of the course (Phase I) is conducted in an online environment that can be completed on your own time. Upon successfully completing the online exam, students will be required to register for the instructor-led training portion (Phase II), which is to be conducted at the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. You must successfully complete Phase I and Phase II in order to receive your NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course certificate.

  • Fundamentals of pistol shooting
  • Bench-rest and two-handed shooting
  • Selecting and maintaining a pistol
  • Practical shooting exercises

 

Gear Requirements:

  • Your pistol and at least 100 rounds of ammunition (you may also rent one of our firearms for the class)

 

Course Cost: $69.00.

Utah Concealed Carry Permit Class

This four-hour class fulfills the training requirement of the state of Utah for the Concealed Carry Weapon permit issued by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). With this permit, you can carry your weapon in Utah loaded or unloaded, concealed or open, as you like. More than 30 other states recognize this Utah permit.

 

This class covers all of the details of applying for the permit, Utah laws relating to carrying a weapon and the use of force, as well as basic firearm handling and safety. Unlike courses offered by others, our CCW class includes time on the range to make sure you have basic competency with the gun you are carrying. You are invited to bring your own carry gun or you can practice with one of ours.

The Park City Gun Club class includes the fingerprint card and photo. Please note that BCI charges a separate fee ($39 Utah resident, $49 non-resident) which you will submit directly to them with your application.

 

Course Cost: $89.00.

Women's Basic Pistol

Class times are from 10 AM–5 PM. Please bring a lunch. (Classes are topic driven. Class times are approximate and dependent upon student progress and participation).

Class cancellations: You may cancel the class and receive a full refund if done two weeks prior to the class. Tuition will not be returned for any cancellations after this date.

Tier 1 Defensive Handgun Classes

Tier 1 Defensive Handgun Courses are logical continuations of the topics covered in our 34 state concealed firearm permit course.

Gear Requirements: Most items can be purchased or rented in our Pro Shop.

  • Eye and ear protection (clear lens shooting glasses and electronic ear muffs strongly recommended)
  • Pistol chambered in one of the following approved calibers: .380 auto, 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 10MM, .45 auto, .45 GAP
  • 200 rounds of ammunition (factory new brass cased of your chosen approved caliber
  • Strong side holster (outside of the waistband)
  • Magazines (3 full capacity magazines)
  • Support side magazine carrier (one double magazine carrier or two single magazine carriers)

 

Course Prerequisite: Valid concealed firearm permit or proof of successful completion of a CFP course.

 

Course Cost: $200.00. Course includes all range time, targets, and certificate of completion.

Tier 2 Defensive Handgun Classes

Tier 2 Defensive Handgun Courses are logical continuations of the topics covered in our 34 state concealed firearm permit course and Tier 1 Defensive Handgun class.

Beyond The Basics

This course is for those shooters who have been introduced to the basic firearms class and have learned basic grip, stance, sight alignment, and shooting accurately out to 25 feet. The next logical step in your firearms progression is to improve those areas with the “three secrets” of accuracy, ways to improve your trigger control and natural instinctive shooting techniques. The course will be one hour in the classroom and one hour on the range practicing your new techniques.

  • Trigger trap/reset and trigger control
  • Methods of avoiding recoil anticipation  
  • Off-hand shooting techniques  
  • One-handed shooting techniques

Gear Requirements:

You will need to bring your own firearm and at least 50 rounds.  If you haven’t selected a firearm, you may rent one of our excellent firearms for the class. If you have a laser, please bring it with your selected firearm. Targets are available for purchase at the range.

 

Course Cost: $25.00. Includes range fee and instruction.

Practical Defensive Handgun

This 12 hour course is spread over 2-3 days and is designed to go beyond an introduction course to give students a solid level of competency with a handgun. Students will learn to use their handgun safely, quickly, and reflexively as will be required in a typical close-quarters defensive situation. The class will also cover the legal aspects and ramifications of using a handgun.

  • Handgun safety, especially for self defense
  • Fundamentals of shooting including stance, grip, aiming, and trigger control
  • Presentation from a concealed holster
  • Tactical response and strategy
  • Speed reloading
  • Legal, moral, and ethical aspects of handgun use
  • Selection of defensive handguns and ammunition

 

Course Cost: $350.00.

Defense in the Home

This course covers methods of increasing security in the home and ways to make the home less appealing to intruders. Creating a layered approach to home security and developing situational awareness and tools to help in coordinating the “plan” will be explored. Other areas such as exiting the home with an “escape plan” and hasty exit techniques with the family will be covered. Stress reduction methods, heightened awareness, and how fine motor skills deteriorate under pressure will be discussed. How do you clear or check the interior of your home prior to calling the police when you’re not sure you have an intruder or when you hear “the bump in the night.” The “Good, Better, Best” options in firearms for home defense and the laws surrounding the use of deadly force and much more will be covered.

 

Gear Requirements:  If you already have a home defense firearm, please bring it to the course. We will be evaluating several firearms during the course out on the range. Course includes range pass, targets, and eye/hearing protection.

 

Course Cost: $100.00.

Revolvers

Shooting a revolver requires a different approach compared to shooting semi-auto pistols. This course will explore the style and operation that will enhance your revolver experience. This course is open to members and non-members.

  • High hand grasp
  • Hard hold grip
  • Thumb position
  • Trigger finger position
  • Sight alignment and sight picture
  • Advantages/disadvantages of revolvers
  • Lockup for cylinders
  • Caliber selection, brand performance, and upgrades

 

Please bring your particular firearm and 100 rounds of ammo. We will shoot following the classroom session. There is a member discount to all students who purchase ammo at our club. 
Course Cost: $75.00. Includes range fees and eye/ear protection.

AR15/M4 2-Day Course

This two day course is designed for the AR-15/M4 platform.

 

Day 1 will cover disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and identification of parts. The course consists of a 6-hour lecture and hands on training on the AR-15 weapons systems. You will learn to field strip, clean, and reassemble your rifle. At the conclusion of this class, we will zero your sights in preparation for the range portion of the class the following day.

  • Nomenclature
  • Mechanical operation of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle
  • Disassembly/reassembly
  • Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle

  • Loading/unloading and chamber checking the rifle
  • Sling use and carry techniques
  • Zeroing iron sights
  • Sight alignment
  • Basic marksmanship and target analysis
  • Ammunition management
  • Malfunction clearance drills (Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3)
  • Basic rifle marksmanship qualification course
  • Preventive maintenance and cleaning

 

Gear Requirements: The course includes an armorer’s mat with AR-15 parts schematic, brass scraper set, AR-15 cleaning kit, CLP, and cleaning patches.

  • AR-15/M4 rifle
  • At least (3) three, thirty-round magazines
  • 200 rounds of factory ammo (No reloaded ammo)
  • Vest carrier or magazine carrier for additional magazines and reload drills
  • Eye and ear protection  
  • Ammo for the class is available at the range

 

 

Training is broken down into two segments: The first segment is six hours in the classroom and involves disassembly and assembly of the weapons platforms. The second segment is on the range and includes the range fees, targets, and six hours of instruction and live-fire.

 

Day 2 is designed as a continuation of the Day 1 course and will be spent on the range.

  • Shooting on multiple targets
  • Shooting from standing, kneeling, and prone positions
  • Box drills

Course Cost: $100.00 for 1 segment. $175.00 if you take both segments.

Reactive Targets

Back by popular demand! Come join us at our tactical range for a fun-filled, action packed training night and work on your shooting and gun mastery skills. Shooting on a stationary target builds accuracy and great muscle memory, but what happens when the target turns, moves toward you, or away from you? Those skills are even more critical to build into your training habits.

 

Gear Requirements:

  • Your own handgun (or you may rent one of the PCGC models with prior notice)  
  • 100 rounds of ammo (You may buy ammo from the Club also)

 

Course Cost: $50.00. (includes lane rental, two targets, eye/ear rental, and instruction)
